Oh you know I’ve been ALL about the disco ball lately. EVEN MY NAILS coordinate.
Anyway, I first used these disco balls to dress up a booth at a farmer’s market for a friend, then I used them on my Christmas tree…so the next obvious step was to turn them into something I could keep on my person at all times.
A DIY disco ball necklace.
And it’s super easy! You ready?!
WHAT YOU’LL NEED:
A disco ball garland (from the party store) or little Disco Ball Ornaments
Jewelry Chain, I wanted my necklace long, so about 12″ on each side.
Waxed thread or wire (for stringing the disco balls)
A drill or skewer
First, carefully remove the balls from whatever string is attached.
I used 5 disco balls on my necklace, but if you want something more understated? Which I can’t understand because, come on, THEY ARE DISCO BALLS, you could use 3.
Then I drilled a little hole straight through each ball. But they are usually Styrofoam so this could have been excessive and a skewer would probably suffice. But look how good my nail looked with the drill!
You could use waxed thread to string the balls, like I did on THIS NECKLACE, or you could use a thin jewelry wire. After you string the balls, tie the wire or thread to the two ends of the chain.
If you use wire leave about an inch extra and tuck it back in the ball on either end. Then attach your clasp and you are GOOD AS GOLD!
And look how cute they look with my DIY Disco Heart Necklace!
You could make yourself a whole line of disco inspired accessories!
They’d also look cute with these easy polymer clay earrings. Just a thought.
Lots of love people!
