I’ve been really into disco balls lately, first I used them to help decorate a booth for a friend, then I used them to decorate my tree, and then I turned some into a necklace (tutorial on that coming soon!).

But since it’s almost Valentine’s Day and all, I figured we needed a Disco Heart Necklace as well! Obviously.

When my package for the 12 Months of Martha (yes I’m on board for another 12 months!) showed up, I fell IMEDIATELY in love with this mini heart glitter! Plus it looked really good next to my disco mani I just got…

I love how chunky the glitter is, it almost looks like little mirrors, you know, like on a disco ball. So I decided to steal some craft supplies from Gigi and make this exceptionally simple necklace! No jewelry making skills needed. Check out the full tutorial.

For your DIY Disco Heart Necklace you’ll need:

Martha Stewart Heart Glitter
Foam hearts (I got these at Joann’s, they are a kid’s craft and super cheap)
Glitter glue or tacky glue
A long jewelry chain (long enough to slip over your head without a clasp around 26-30″)
A glue gun

I also used Martha Stewart’s Glitter Tray and I LOVED it. No, seriously. I don’t know why I didn’t buy it before.

Start by covering a foam heart in a generous amount of MS Glitter Glue or Tacky glue (both work better than regular white glue). I liked using a heart that coordinated with the glitter color. I have the heart glitter in white and pink, so I used white and pink foam hearts. You’ll two hearts per necklace.

Cover the heart in a lot of glitter. Then shake off excess glitter and save for later!

Let heart dry completely, at least an hour.

When your heart is dry, flip it over and use a hot glue gun to glue the ends of your chain in place. Then cover the back of the heart in more hot glue, sandwich the second heart on top. This covers the chain and makes the necklace sturdier.

Now you can write a love note on the back of the necklace and use it as a BOMB.COM Valentine’s day gift!

Or you could just make a whole bunch for yourself! Seriously! How EASY IS THAT!!! I’m kind of a disco genius maybe?

Love the name of your blog. I have a girlfriend who makes fun of me when I really get going and she then says “Its THE ALISON SHOW!!!” then I giggle and pretend to tap dance or sing the Bugs Bunny theme song. The name of your blog made her feel close by when she’s actually quite far away. Thanks for that!
