This is Gigi playing in her nook with her new Wuka!
And this is my ADORABLE neighbor Nicholas being the perfect child model! Haha.
So I know we’re getting down to the wire! But I wanted to share an AWESOME Christmas gift idea with you for kids! It’s this new toy called a Wuka– and it’s like a quiet book! I also rounded up 15 awesome gifts for kids from small businesses on my babble blog, this one is included!
I have been wanting to make a quiet book for my children for YEARS. If you’re not familiar with the concept of a quiet book, it’s a soft fabric toy with pages of activities for children that should supposedly help them keep their traps shut. I’ve wanted to make one since I was pregnant with Ginger, but I just have not gotten around to it! My grandma made us one and I remember loving it so much when I was small.
I’ve researched all sorts of materials, bindings and page design options over the past years. I’m not kidding, I was SERIOUS. I kept not making one because the felt I wanted to use was just SO expensive–hundreds and hundreds of dollars, plus I’ve been kinda swamped trying to make a living. But still, when the nice folks from wūka™ contacted me, I basically said, no thanks, I’m gonna make my own! Haha, but then when I talked to them again, 6 months later, and their toy was finished and mine was not, I said, “Fine, I’ll take a look at YOURS.”
And crap. Gigi and Rad LOVE it, and so do I. wūka™ refers to their pages as “squares” and they all bind together with a soft, bendy, silicon link. IT IS GENIUS.
You can buy as many or as few squares as you want, and then just add them to the link, or you can remove the squares and give them to your child to just play one at a time.
I’m super excited it to have it for all the holiday travel we’ll be doing, have I mentioned we are going to Hawaii with my family for Christmas? Rough life, I know.
But I’m also always excited when Gigi nestles up in her book nook with a good activity. I had to steal these pictures on my phone so she wouldn’t yell at my camera.
This is the square Doggone Cute and Gigi LOVES it. The dog is a puppet who eats bones out of a jar. It is, in fact, doggone cute.
This is another favorite, Tall, Tall, Tall. Gigi is 3 and just old enough to unsnap the little heads and pull the tails of the animals to make them tall, tall, tall or small, small, small. Ha.
I’ve been helping the peeps at wūka™ pair up with bloggers, like myself, to help get the word out about their new product! You should go see their posts too!
and a few more coming up!
Also Wuka is offering my readers 10% off their purchase with code “thealisonshow” until Dec. 31! So hit it up!
I hope you have a very happy weekend!
