The Gigi Fashion Show

A lot of the time, I seriously do not care what Ginger wears. She’ll wear whatever my mom has gifted her, and a few things I’ve picked up, and that will be that. But every now and then I start to think about it, and I start caring more about what she puts on-or what I put on her. I know it’s seriously like a matter of months before she starts fighting me over EVERYTHING she puts on her tiny precious body, and I want to get my two cents in while I still can. Is that horrible? Ha. It’s just they’re only tiny for so long, and it’s fun to doll her up. Ugh she’s so cute and SO moody.

Lately I’ve been trying to dress her in stuff that I love, and she’s mostly a good sport about it. So here’s a little Gigi fashion show with some of my latest favorites for that very sassy girl.

I got this little shirt for her from Zara on CRAZY sale, it’s not available anymore, but I seriously love it so much. I picked up her little boots at Old Navy and it took a solid 10 minutes of “discussion” in the store before she’d even try them on. She has a very hard time buying new shoes.

I made this little shirt for Gigi a few weeks ago and I have her wear it twice a week. I had the body fabric on hand, and the sleeves were made from a shirt I’ve been hoarding from the thrift store for like a year. I didn’t finish the seams and it’s pretty rough, but I think it’s SO cute on her!

I also really love vintage items and recently was gifted the MOST AMAZING goodies from Peppermint & Coacoa on Etsy. I adore the shop owner’s taste this pinafore is no exception. In my opinion there’s nothing sweeter than a little girl in a frock!

And then there are the overalls. Recently I did a little ditty for Osh Kosh at Kohl’s on Instagram, I made the whole family dance…did you see it? I LOVED putting the kids in overalls. I actually used some of the tips I wrote for this styling overalls post. Ha!

I really wanted Gigi to have a belt to wear, and I just couldn’t find one. So I made this belt by braiding some knit (jersey like a t-shirt) fabric I had on hand. I secured each end with some of Gigi’s mini hair rubber bands. But I think it looked so cute!

Then of course we can’t forget about my men.

Gigi is turning 3 on September 17th and you know I’m already getting crazy about the party. But I swear I’m not going overboard…no, seriously, I’m scaling back this year. No really, I mean it.

Have a great weekend!

  3. This…this is the post we’ve all been waiting for. I’ve met her once and I can’t even believe how old she’s getting. You make being a mom so flipping cool.

  4. Alison! Love Gigi’s looks. She is insanely adorable 🙂

And THANKS for mentioning Peppermint and Cocoa. She is rocking that little vintage floral pinafore, sass, closed eyes and all! Too cute!

  5. Heidi

I feel the same way about dressing my boys. Plus, how fun is it to have them dressed in exactly the clothes you would choose? First World thoughts right? haha!
I can’t wait to see details from the birthday party. I just had a party for my 4-year-old today (did I just say 4??) and I had so much fun making SIMPLE decorations and SIMPLE party favors. I just wish I had more time to do a few more things. So much fun, I can’t wait until next year’s party. 😉

  6. I love Gigi’s clothes! My daughter wore nothing mainly for the first five years of her life, unless it was her fluffy purple hat and gloves, all year and her underwear, so the fact that your daughter is dressed, is awesome! My daugther did like her snow white dress and would wear it every where. Now, she is 13 and suddenly you would think I had no sense of sytle..picture us in forever 21 for 2 1/2 hours and she walked out with one, one shirt. I swear! And everything i pick out is you know horrible, apparently. 🙁 I miss the fluffy purple hat and underwear days.

  7. I love a good fashion show! Where do you find the jersey fabrics you use? I want to make some stuff for myself. Oh, and my daughter. 😉

  8. If you started a new blog called The Gigi Show, you guys would take over the world. Your little girl is tooooo cute!! Such sass in such a small package!
