Leather Bow Shoe Clips Tutorial

Hello! I’m so SO very excited to share this tutorial with you. It’s easy, inexpensive, and I think they would make an adorable Mother’s Day gift. I love how these simple leather bow shoe clips can instantly add a POW factor to your pumps!

I bought my shoe clips online here. I really like the quality of my clips and they were about $1 per pair. I usually try to avoid ordering supplies online for tutorials, so that the supplies are easy for you to get! But I was unable to find shoe clips at the craft stores. If I see any while I’m out and about I’ll be sure to update you! But the ones I ordered came very quickly, so I think you can still order them in time to use them as a gift for Mother’s day.

As for the leather well, be sure to check out my Leather 101 video! I recommend using either suede or upholstery leather for these suckers.

To make one pair: You will need a scrap that is at least 5″ wide and 9″ long for the main color and a tiny scrap 2″ x 3″ for the middle color. Obviously you could make anything out of the leather! But I thought I’d just show you these cute bows. Though I’d LOVE to see what you come up with!

For the tutorial I made an animated GIF! I checked out a few turtorials on that, but BY FAR The best one was from Liz at Say Yes to Hoboken.

Part 1: Cut your strips and prep your bows. My iPhone is showing you that you need to wait 10 minutes for the glue to set.

Part 2: Assemble your bows and add your shoe clips. You will need to let your clips set for 24 hours before trying to use them.

Part 3: Find some shoes!

Let me know if you have any questions! I was lucky enough to score a VERY hot model while I was in Houston, TX last week. My girl Lisa came over to my hotel and brought her fine behind and some cute shoes with her. I wanted to show how versatile these are with lots of different types of shoes! Thanks Lisa!

Keep it crafty, keep it sassy,
