She gives you life lessons. You’re welcome.

Eric is out of town, which means I spent the night doing slightly destructive Christmas crafts, watching Hairspray, and eating cookies for dinner/ after dinner/ dessert.

I love Hairspray so much. When we went to see it in the theatre we didn’t realize it, but we went to a showing that was a sing-a-long! It’s hard enough for me not to sing and dance in the aisles of movies, so can you imagine what happened when I was actually given permission to sing along? Needless to say the other moviegoers will think twice about checking their movie’s sing-a-long status.

While watching Hairspray tonight, I was reminded of lots of really valuable life lessons. Life lessons I knew deep down, but that I needed to be reminded of. And so I want to share them with you. I love to share.

Life Lesson #1: You never know when you are going to have a chance to dance on live television. You should always, always, have your best moves prepared, and dress to impress.

Life Lesson #2: Never underestimate the power of a girdle.

Life Lesson #3: Christopher Walken is the creepiest and yet perhaps sexiest man alive.

Life Lesson #4: Ever since this old world began, a woman found out if she shook it, she could shake up a man.

Which leads me to the greatest life lesson of all…

Life Lesson #5: Never, ever, stop shaking it. Whatever your “it” may be, don’t stop.
You’re not too fat, you’re not too awkward, and you’re certainly not too boring.

And so, whether you think I’m an idiot for loving Hairspray (and if you think that, how on earth are you still reading my blog?) or whether you have memorized every word of every song, I hope you’ll find some inspiration in at least one of these life lessons, and I’m being 100% serious.

And so I say, with all the love in my cookie-filled heart, come on, girl or boy, don’t try to fake it, get out there and let me see you shake it. Come on, shake it, come on come on shake it.

I’ll be in L.A. for a commercial shoot the rest of the week, I’ll try to K.I.T. but I am a pretty big deal. And about that I’m 100% not serious. Ok maybe 10%.

Don’t be surprised if a huge talent agency tries to kidnap me in L.A.,

Alison
