Awesome with Alison Ep. 34 The Biggest Secret of Adulthood!
October 23, 2017 Alison Faulkner

Do you feel like you don’t know what you’re doing? Or that you’re overwhelmed with indecision about something?! Well we are unveiling the BIGGEST secret of adulthood—and it’s going to HELP YOU OUT! Click bait?! HARDLY! But we also spend a healthy amount of time sharing some television shows we are loving that have been helping us cope with adulthood too. And as always we offer a few actionable takeaways like 3 questions you can ask yourself when you’re feeling stuck or disillusioned, and we know that they will help you move to a place of action and more awesomeness!

4 reasons this realization is going unlock doors for you:

  1. Uncertainty leads to creation.
  2. It leads to growth.
  3. It’s a marker of emotional and mental intelligence to be able to hold that ambiguity.
  4. It takes you from a victim mentality to a place of ownership and control.

3 questions to ask yourself when you’re in that place of “I just don’t know what I’m doing”:

  1. What do I know?
  2. Am I doing what I want to be doing?
  3. Is what I’m doing effective?

To learn more about what each of these mean give the episode a listen!!!

Can I just leave my review here because I’m too lazy to get off my phone and on my computer!?!? Can we just call that an Apple fail? 🙂
You know I look forward to ::::not:::: seeing that little check mark ✅ of “you are all caught up” podcast you two enlighten me. If we could just pull up a chair and really solve the worlds problems, at least give you a shot at laughing at my day. Nobody cares about your kids, but mine are a weeee bit older and cause a weeeeee bit more anxiety….and somehow today’s talk hit my heart. Yes! Those other parents ARE faking it.
    Don’t stop. Keep going!

    Hi Alison,

I just finished listing and I wanted to let you know how inspiring your podcasts have been, especially all of your updates on your dad. I think I saw somewhere that you grew up in Poway which is also where I’m from and my parents still live. Earlier this year my dad was diagnosed with an incurable cancer and he just recently lost his battle. It was encouraging hearing you had been going through the same thing and how you have been processing all the emotions but not giving up.

For months I dreaded when my dad would pass and what it would be like. I came to a point where I knew what was coming and I could either give into these emotions and give up or keep going. I told myself that giving up wasn’t an option so I had to keep going and it has lead to so much growth and inspiration that I need to do something amazing with my life.

I worried so much because I didn’t know what it would be like or how to handle this but that’s ok. I don’t know how to handle this but I’m making it up as I go along and growing.

Thanks for your podcast! I love listening to it on the treadmill. In this episode when you said “I believe in love” it reminded me of this song, which I think you could totally have a dance party to.
