In this episode we are going to blow your mind… well at least TRY to GROW if not BLOW your mind from small picture to BIG PICTURE thinking! We’re going to outline how small picture thinking can limit us, what some attributes are of both types of thinking, and also share 3 tactical tools you can use TODAY to expand your horizons! We hope you get some good ideas on how to shift your perspective and get where you want to be!
In case you’re looking to take notes or put those tools into action here are our 3 tactical tools YOU CAN USE TODAY to expand your horizons and your mind:
- Do your creative work first: when you sit down to work, or finally get those free moments, do the creative work you need to do FIRST! Your mind is fresher, and it will ensure you’re prioritizing what you REALLY want to be getting done in life. Email, texts, the news, social media, they are OTHER people’s agenda. Do what will feed YOU first. It’s ideal if you can do this in the morning when your mind isn’t bogged down and drained from all the decisions you’ve made all day.
- Pick the one thing that will make you feel like a winner: I love to make a to-do list. And I’m not saying to stop! But at the beginning of the day I like to think of the ONE thing that I could accomplish (even if I don’t get all the other crap done) that would make me feel like a winner, and slay the day. Write it down, make a note in your phone, make it reasonable and then GET ER DONE. One day at a time lovers. I love my 5 minute journal SO MUCH for this!
Eliminate knee-jerk distractions: Turn off notifications on your phone. GAH why would you want those?! Even from me?! Haha. You do not have to answer every text, phone call, or comment when it pops up. I’m trying to be better about setting a timer for stuff like this and only doing it at allotted times. One of the BEST ways to stay in the small picture, is to let yourself be pulled by the world’s every little whim, ding, buzz and chirp. It steals, STEALS your brain power, makes you forget what you were just thinking, and gives you an excuse to not do what you really want to do in the BIG picture.
Or if you get a SECOND to subscribe in iTunes you’ll always see new episodes (every Wednesday!) and if you leave a review I’ll love you forever!
