About a month ago I was lucky enough to get to design a dinner sponsored by Bing, which was part of the Alt Summit blogging conference. (You might remember I did a dinner for Microsoft for Alt Summit last year!)
Modern Atelier helped make this awesome time-lapse video of the set-up! I think you’ll love it! Or at least I do. HA! I really wanted a video of the set-up and event because I think it does SUCH a better job at helping capture the space and giving you some dinner party ideas and inspiration for a soiree of your own!
Anyway, this dinner was TOO MUCH FUN! I hinged the theme around this really fantastic video that Bing put out about brave women of 2013. Kind of like a year-in review, you MUST watch it. I cry EVERY time (shocker).
These little sponsored dinners take place the night before the conference (a lot of brands host them and they usually have about 20-40 guests) as a way for people to meet on a smaller scale before heading into the giant conference. I LOVED the idea of a really positive night filled with a message we all need to hear before we head into a large room full of really beautiful, successful well-dressed women: BE BRAVE.
I decided the best way to do this was to have the guests greeted by a 6-foot cutout tiger, that Roxy Marj illustrated and I made, and a sign simply stating the theme.
We used tiny cut-out tigers, that were glittered around the edges in the gorgeous floral vines that Lizy Bowden made.
It’s hard to come up with swag that people ACTUALLY want and that is easy to take home in a suit case, so I was PRETTY pleased with myself for thinking of commissioning Roxy Marj to make us some custom glasses cases with the theme on them, and Natalie, my favorite human, and my contact at Bing! thought of filling them with fabulous sunglasses from Moorea-Seals beautiful shop!
Also, these dinners are ALL about the Instagram, so the place settings also had some cut-out tiger masks, and little “ROAR” tattoos. I don’t like to do throw-away things for parties, but sometimes it’s worth it for a good photo-op!
Don’t you love how sassy the tigers are? I love them leaning against the black taper candles. Also, how SEXY ARE BLACK CANDLES?! I know.
People ended up using my jacket as a prop! Hahaha. This is Michael Wurm Jr. of Inspired by Charm, I’ve wanted to meet him FOR FOREVER so I was giddy he was at the dinner.
This was the entrance table. Lizy did the lovely arrangement and I made a custom temp tattoo to put the #bingbebrave hashtag on the mirror.
This is Natalie. The Bing babe of the century. Funny side note, Natalie took the tiger back with her to Microsoft! How, I do not know. She says that he’s in her office and people come in all the time to talk to her and DO NOT notice that he’s there. HAHAHA.
Obviously I needed some really FANCY makeup, you know, as the event planner of the dinner. So the girls as the BeYOUty Bureau dolled me up. This is Ashleigh doing my tiger eyes, and Kayti literally took the earrings off her ears and gave them to me to wear.
People got really into the theme and it was SO fun and not stuffy. I was SO so happy with the way everything turned out!
It was such a TREAT to work with Bing on this dinner! They are such an amazing company to work with and I sincerely respect them so much for being so behind this theme.
