(Photos that look like this, on this white backdrop are from the Smilebooth and you can see all of them here!) I’ll be showing my TOP PICKS from the photo booth ASAP!
So here we go friends. I’m about to share pictures from the party of the year/decade. The party pictures were taken by the AMAZING Justin Hackworth. I love Justin with all my heart.
I helped Ms. Susan Petersen of Freshly Picked Moccasins throw an end of the year bash. I worked with my genius friend Kimmy Crosby, and she helped me execute the theme, the details and did things like make spreadsheets and know the PERFECT places to put heart-shaped balloons. She’s an organizational and creative gem, and she strokes my fragile ego exactly when it needs a boost. BLESS HER.
This party was about one thing: Susan saying, “thank you” to her brand supporters by helping them to have a BLAST.
It was NOT about networking, looking really hot, or inviting a bunch of bloggers to expose the brand. I’m not saying those things are horrible, I’m just saying this was not a party for that. Everyone was invited, and it was seriously so so fun.
I’m bad at A LOT OF THINGS. Organized sports, being pleasant, cleaning, not having life-altering mood swings.
But you know what I am REALLY REALLY good at?
Getting people to DANCE THEIR AX OFF.
Yes, we had a room of 300ish moms dancing like no one was watching.
And here’s how we did it.
The party was held at Provo’s Startup Building. It’s a super venue and I’m glad the city has it. I used these oversized black and white signs to do messaging all around the party. I glittered certain words with tacky glue and fat gold glitter.
We hired 4 “lumberjacks” to lavish ladies with attention, bring them donuts and diet soda, and point a fan on them at the photobooth. I’m serious. The one of the far left is my lil brother.
The party was about DANCING. And so that was the focus of the room. We used tons of gold mylar fringe, ordered from a party store, and cheap Christmas lights. Walls By Mur created that plaid dance floor, and Justin Godina is the WORLD’S BEST DJ and worked the turn tables to perfection.
OBVIOUSLY I enjoyed myself.
As did Ms. Freshly Picked, the hostess with the mostest.
Lizy Bowden made this amazing wreath with pairs of Freshly Picked Moccasins, and she also did all the florals the entrance and for the cocktail tables that were sprinkled throughout the party.
Now I suggest you turn on Kesha’s “Timber” sit back, and enjoy people dancing like fools.
Oooh look at the Queen of the ball lookin all sassy. You bet your axes the dancing was intense.
Also, there might have been a surprise choreographed dance number performed by some boys from BYU’s hip hop club. And it was HYSTERICALLY AWESOME.
At the party we had soda, diet soda, and donuts, Yes, everyone was PROBABLY sober. Haha.
UGH! It was seriously the most fun. Have I mentioned that?
The thing about me is I actually REALLY don’t like attending parties. I know, you don’t believe me. But it’s true. I have fun when I’m there, but I’d usually rather stay at home and make crap and watch crap. I REALLY don’t like staying at parties I’ve planned. I just like planning them. I think that’s why I’m so shocked I had such a blast! haha.
Thank you Susan for letting me help you with this! You are the best.
I’ll be back ASAP to show you my top Smilebooth photo picks.
I’m thinking in 2014 I’m going to WRITE more on my blog, like I used to. But I’m also making resolutions to sleep more and do less…HAHA so we’ll see!
