Oh man. You guys. You have NO idea how hard I’ve tried to scale back this year while planning Ginger’s birthday party (it’s on Thursday). You only saw SOME of the Pony Party last year really. I never actually posted ALL of the pictures. I baked a total of 7 different types of goodies, and made who knows how many decorations. I was honestly unhinged. No, but really. I had just found out I was pregnant with Rad, and it was RIGHT before the sickness was going to hit. So I was like trying to do as many things as I could before the debilitating nausea. After the party I remember sitting down on the couch and BAWLING because I had to face the reality that I had to endure another pregnancy.
Anyway, it’s hard for me not to go overboard and stress out everyone around me. Hahaha. I have fun. But things spiral out of the realm of “reasonable” very quickly.
This year I’m having a puppet party for Gigi! I’ve hired a neighbor to come do a puppet show (she does it professionally at the library and has her own puppet theater!) and I’ve tried to scale back on the number of crafts and baked goods. I know this might make me look MORE crazy, but I actually made myself like a little mood board, and it’s helped me keep things in check.
I think sometimes bloggers get a bad rep. Like, they only do this stuff for pictures and for the traffic and not the joy of throwing a party. I hope you guys know I’m actually this insane, and yes, social media has prompted me to want to take better pictures, but other than that, I’ve pretty much been this intense my whole life. Ha! I’d do this all with out without the blog, and thankfully, blogging justifies (and a TINY BIT) helps pay for the habit. If nothing else.
Here’s my mood board for Gigi’s puppet party that’s happening tomorrow!
I made some animals in illustrator and turned them into puppets that kids can play with in the puppet theater-which is the marketplace from Ikea.
Martha Stewart was kind enough to supply me with some cute paper goods!
And Shop Sweet Lulu offered me these adorable paper cups, straws and milk bottles.
I bought some plastic vintage roses to put on the cake, and some Ikea puppets for the invitations and decorating.
Ok I’m off to see what else I need to do!
I can’t wait to share it all with you!
Lots of love,
