Sometimes I really don’t know how much you guys care to know about things that are not craft or food related here at The Alison Show. But because SO much of my crafting lately has been for a future project that I cannot share at this time (it’s killing me!) I figured I’d show you that sometimes I do things other than make crap and eat donuts. Not very often, but occasionally.
So here we go: WHAT I DO WHEN I’M NOT CRAFTING…
I try on a lot of outfits for videos (and I write, film and edit videos too.) Here I am trying on a few dresses for #ourtopsecretproject. I don’t think you can tell how you look in something until you dance in it.
I take Gigi to “feed da ducks.” We like to bring Heather and Cole along, and on this particular day Cole accidentally went “swimming” with the ducks. Thankfully Ginger was too busy eating the duck’s moldy bread to notice, otherwise I’d be convincing her it’s not ok to “swim” in the pond all the time.
I hydrate with a fluid other than Diet Dr. Pepper. I KNOW IT’S INSANE. But I’m training for the Santa Barbara Marathon. I haven’t run one since 2008, so I’m a bit rusty. But after a month of steady training, running is ALMOST starting to be fun again.
I chase this one out of my craft room and into the yard. In the left picture she’s holding a grip of contraband confetti. I also spend an inordinate amount of time explaining why we can’t have “pop-sisles” for breakfast, lunch and dinner. She asks me for each color, as if maybe I’m saying no to a “boo” (blue) popsicle because I only have “pink” left. And if I won’t give her a pink popscicle well surely, I must have an “oange” up my sleeve. And then after our conversation, and nods of understanding on her part she looks up at me 3 minutes later with big blinking eyes and says, “Geeen pop-sisle pease?”
I make a spectacle wherever I go. Well, not always me exactly, but Ginger. Here she is wrapping herself in some random bushes at a shopping center. When Eric and I tried to remove her she threw the biggest tantrum ever. And yes, she had a rash for 2 days.
I text message images of clothes we HAVE to HAVE for our family picture to Eric. Thankfully he never tries to stop my madness. I spent an insane amount of time coordinating our outfits for a family picture we took last week. I was trying to NOT make something, but I ended up making Gigi a pair of palazzo pants the night before. I CAN’T HELP IT, I LOVE TO CRAFT.
And finally, I watch Gigi fall even more in love with her daddy every day. And I fall more in love with him too, especially when he’s laying down the law to a sassy backseat passenger.
Notice how cleaning, cooking meals, and responding to emails, phone calls, and other modes of communication are not included. See, I think these things are VERY important, and I wish I did them, but there are only so many hours in the day and I have my priorities a bit out of wack. So I apologize if you fall into that last category.
I hope you’re all having a wonderful week! And although summer has been fun, I’m SO done with the heat. I cannot wait for fall, and for the end of all this “pop-sisle” weather.
