I find when planning ANY activity, it’s always more fun when you have a theme. So imagine how giddy I was when I realized (moments before we left for our church overnight camping trip) that Eric, Gigi and I all own flannel shirts. Diamond Fork Canyon didn’t know what hit it!

Heather grabbed these amazing shots, proving once and for all who Gigi loves best. It was so nice to get out in such amazing surroundings. Plus, Ginger got to wear these boots finally, they didn’t fit her all Fall or Winter! (Yes, I’m shallow.)

Sleeping with Ginger was a total experience. We actually just put a mattress in the bed of our truck. Ginger spent one full hour crawling on our heads trying to get us to play with her. Eric and I pretended to be sleeping, but it was difficult with her slapping my face and yelling in a crescendo, “ma ma, Ma ma, MA ma, MA MA, MAAAAAAAA MAAAAAAA!” One of us would inevitably giggle and then her wild rumpus would begin again. She’d keep herself occupied in the dark pointing out her “eyes” and “nooooose” and when she got bored she’d start fumbling around for a belly button to poke. Around midnight I rubbed her tiny back until she started to drift off. When I stealthily tried I to remove my hand, her small fingers shot towards mine. In her groggy state her hand found mine, and she wouldn’t fall fully asleep until she’d replaced my hand on the small of her back.

Pretty freaking cute. Almost cute enough to compensate for her completely dominating my pillow at 2am so that I was forced to sit up until Eric came to my rescue. Other than that touching scene, the best part of the night was dinnertime. We had the most scrumptious tin-foil dinners. They were seriously to die for and a must-try this summer.

So, what’s your camping style? And any tips for camping with miniature crazy people? (Kids?!) I’d love to hear them! Living in Utah does have its perks you know, and fabulous camping is one of them.
